Lesson 5: What Automation Can't Do

2. Creative Work Without a Spec

You might think: "I'll have AI write my weekly blog post automatically."

Here's why that fails: AI is really good at writing to a spec. It's bad at deciding what the spec should be. The spec is your job. It requires judgment about what your audience needs, what you're trying to accomplish this week, what story you want to tell.

AI can: - Write multiple versions given a topic and angle - Edit your draft for clarity - Expand an outline into a full post - Rewrite for a different tone

AI can't: - Decide what you should write about - Decide what your strategy is - Determine if the post actually moves toward your goals

Where to draw the line: You do the creative direction. AI does the execution. You give the brief. AI writes to the brief. You feel in your gut what's missing. AI fills it in.

This is why automating writing without a human in the loop creates content that's technically well-written but useless.
